If you're price-shopping

Cheap roller shutters Melbourne: why we're not the cheapest.

We're competitive for what we deliver, not the lowest line on a comparison list. Here's what cheaper usually costs you long-term, and what you're actually paying for with SM.

Compliance and protection

Licensed electrical and full insurance, every install.

Licensed electrical work, signed compliance certificate, and full insurance during install. All legal requirements for hardwired shutters in Victoria, built into every quote. Skipping compliance is illegal — and expensive if something goes wrong.

Australian Made

Australian-made shutters, German-engineered motors.

Our roller shutters are 100% Australian-made in our Melbourne facility, built to local standards with a 10-year warranty. The motors carry a 7-year warranty — supported directly by the team that installed them.

One team, start to finish

We measure, customise, and install. No outsourcing.

Many companies in Melbourne have a sales team and subcontract their install work. No accountability, no consistent quality control. We measure, customise, and install with our own team — same people you'll deal with afterward.

Built on referrals

13 years, 80+ Google reviews, 4.9 stars.

Most of our work comes from neighbours referring neighbours. We've been doing this for 13 years with 80+ Google reviews averaging 4.9 stars. Reputation costs more to build than discount sales — and lasts longer.

David and the team did an outstanding job installing 11 second-story motorised roller shutters. The crew was professional, prompt and paid attention to every detail. They left the house spotless, even wiping fingerprints from the control panels.

Pricing FAQ

Questions buyers ask before booking the measure.

Roller shutters in Melbourne start from $880 per shutter, fully installed. The average four-bedroom home runs around $1,090 per window once larger living-room and sliding-door openings factor in. Every quote is itemised, so you see the price for each window separately.

Most sell through commissioned sales reps who quote high then “discount” down inside the home to apply pressure. We don’t run that play. Our starting prices are published and the itemised written quote we hand you on-site is the price you pay.

Yes. The written quote we give you right after the measure is fixed for 30 days. No “discoveries” on install day. The only exception is if you change the scope yourself, like adding a window or upgrading the motor after we’ve quoted.

No. The on-site measure and the itemised written quote are both free, with no obligation to proceed.

Probably not. There are cheaper imported products, DIY kits, and shorter-warranty shutters if price is your only filter. We’re competitive for the quality we deliver: Australian-made, ten-year warranty, in-house install, direct-to-owner support.

We can give you a rough range based on window sizes, but a firm itemised quote needs an on-site measure to check openings, access, and wiring constraints. The measure is free. The calculator above is the best self-service option for a budget estimate.

Yes. Every published price and every written quote we issue includes GST. No “plus GST” at the bottom of the page.

Terms & Conditions

SM SMART TRADING PTY LTD | ABN 15 675 563 809 | (“SM Roller Shutters”, “we”, “us”, “our”)

Last updated: 30 July 2026

TERMS AND CONDITIONS (SUPPLY, INSTALLATION, REPAIRS)

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all quotes, orders, supply, installation, repairs, and services provided by SM Roller Shutters to you (“you”, “customer”). If there is any inconsistency between these Terms and a written quote or invoice, the quote or invoice will apply to the extent of the inconsistency.

1. DEFINITIONS. “Goods” means roller shutters and any related parts, accessories, remotes, controls, and materials we supply. “Services” means measuring, quoting, custom preparation, installation, electrical work (where included), repairs, and any related labour. “Work” starts when we order materials, commence custom preparation, schedule installation resources, or otherwise begin preparation for your job.

2. QUOTES AND ACCEPTANCE. Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued unless stated otherwise in writing. A quote is accepted when you confirm acceptance in writing (including SMS or email) or pay a deposit. Quotes are based on conditions reasonably observed at the time of quoting. If conditions differ, a variation may be required. If there is an obvious error in a quote, we may correct it before installation begins.

3. DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS. A deposit of 30% is required to place an order (unless stated otherwise on your invoice). Your deposit covers admin, scheduling, ordering materials, and preparation work. The remaining balance is due on completion of installation. If payment is overdue, we may pause work, reschedule, and recover reasonable costs. Payment is accepted by the methods stated on your invoice.

4. VARIATIONS AND ADDITIONAL WORK. Changes requested after accepting the quote will require a written variation for your approval and may affect price and timeline. Extra work outside the agreed scope will be discussed and approved before proceeding. If the work area is not clear on arrival, additional charges may apply — labour charged at $100/hour or $50/shutter depending on what is required.

5. SCHEDULING AND DELAYS. All timeframes are estimates only and may vary due to supplier delays, material availability, workload, weather, or site conditions. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for penalties or indirect losses caused by delays.

6. SITE ACCESS AND CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES. You agree to provide safe, clear access to work areas and power where required; remove obstacles, furniture, blinds, and fragile items; secure pets and children; ensure someone over 18 is on site; and obtain any approvals required (landlord, body corporate, permits). If access is not available or the site is unsafe, we may reschedule and a return visit fee may apply.

7. INSTALLATION AND COSMETIC LIMITS. Installation involves drilling and fixings and may cause minor marks to surfaces. Unless agreed in writing, we do not repaint or refinish surfaces. If we cause damage due to our negligence, we will take reasonable steps to rectify it.

8. ELECTRICAL WORK. Electrical work will be completed by a licensed electrician we organise. A Certificate of Electrical Safety will be provided for all electrical work completed.

9. OWNERSHIP AND RISK. All Goods remain our property until full payment is received and cleared. Risk passes to you once installed. If payment remains unpaid, you agree to provide reasonable access for us to recover unpaid Goods.

10. CANCELLATIONS. Before Work starts: we may retain or charge an amount reflecting reasonable costs incurred. After Work starts: you are responsible for all reasonable costs including materials ordered or custom-prepared and labour already performed. Refunds will be reduced by these costs except where required by law.

11. AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW. Our Goods and Services come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

12. WARRANTY — RESIDENTIAL USE. Aluminium roller shutters (including window roller shutters): 10 years on shutter profile slats. Electric motors: 5 years (SM tubular motor) or 7 years (Elero motor, where fitted). Electronic components including receivers, remotes, wall switches, and WiFi control units: 1 year. Polycarbonate Roller Shutter: 3 years on shutter profile slats and electrical motors. Alfresco Roller Shutter: 5 years on shutter profile slats and electrical motors. Manual winders, stainless steel cables, bearings, brackets, axles, pelmets, and other parts: 1 year. Roof shutter applications or shutters installed at less than 70 degrees pitch: 1 year. Workmanship and electrical workmanship/parts supplied by us: 1 year. Commercial goods, services, and repair jobs: 1 year unless stated otherwise in writing. All warranty periods start from the installation date.

13. WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS. Warranty does not apply to issues caused by: relocation of the shutter; unauthorised modifications or repairs; use of non-genuine parts; misuse, neglect, or lack of maintenance; continued use while a fault is present; power surges, vandalism, impact, storms, floods, bushfires, lightning, salt exposure, chemicals, extreme weather, or animal interference; or normal wear and tear and cosmetic ageing.

14. WARRANTY CLAIMS. Submit claims by email within the warranty period, including your name, address, installation date, photos/video where possible, and description of the issue. We may schedule an inspection. If covered, we will repair or replace the defective component. If not covered, we will advise paid repair options.

15. REPAIRS AND CALL-OUT FEES. Standard call-out fee: $165 within 30 km. Additional travel charges apply beyond 30 km. A call-out fee applies when the workmanship warranty has expired or where the issue is not caused by us. For shutters not installed by us, the call-out fee is waived if you proceed with the paid repair recommended at that visit. After-hours/weekend/public holiday call-out fee starts at $495 within 30 km. Labour and parts for non-warranty repairs are charged separately. No paid work proceeds without your approval. If you decline repairs after attendance, the call-out fee remains payable.

16. URGENT REPAIRS. We will schedule repairs as soon as reasonably possible. Urgent or after-hours attendance may be available at higher rates as set out above.

17. WARRANTY TRANSFERABILITY. Warranties apply to the original purchaser and original installation site. Any transfer requires our written approval.

18. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. Nothing excludes consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Where permitted by law, our liability is limited to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having the services supplied again.

19. CHANGES TO TERMS. Any updated Terms apply to future quotes and orders. The Terms that apply to your job are those in place when you accept your quote, unless both parties agree in writing to a change.

20. GOVERNING LAW. These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Disputes will be handled in the courts of Victoria.
