General
How do roller shutters work?
Horizontal aluminium slats retract into a headbox assembly above your window. A tubular motor inside the axle drives them up and down via remote or wall switch. When closed, slats interlock into a solid barrier. Motor is hermetically sealed and invisible from outside. Electric shutters
Do roller shutters add value to your home?
They can. Roller shutters are a permanent improvement that adds security, insulation, noise reduction, and street appeal. In suburbs where break-ins or road noise are common, shutters are a selling point. Quality matters. Well-fitted aluminium shutters hold their value.
How do I maintain my roller shutters?
Clean slats with a mild detergent solution quarterly. Flush guide rails with a low-pressure hose. Avoid high-pressure washing. The motor is sealed and doesn’t need servicing. If you notice any change in operation, contact us. Most issues are resolved in a single service visit.
What happens if a shutter gets damaged?
Contact us on 1300 881 312. Individual slats can be replaced without removing the whole shutter. Motors swapped on-site in about 45 minutes. Our team maintains detailed records of every job so we know your setup.
Performance & Benefits
Are roller shutters good for security?
Yes. Slats interlock into a rigid panel. Motor’s internal brake holds the shutter when closed. No external handle or keyhole. Most burglars avoid homes with visible shutters. Security shutters
Do roller shutters block out noise?
They deliver a measurable improvement. Foam-filled slats and the air gap between shutter and glass dampen outside sound. Particularly effective against traffic, trains, and aircraft. Every home is different, so we don’t make specific dB claims. Noise reduction
Do roller shutters reduce heat?
Yes. External shutters intercept sunlight before it passes through the glass. Foam-filled slats also insulate in winter. West-facing windows experience the most significant improvement. Heat reduction
Do roller shutters help with energy savings?
Yes. The foam-filled slats and air pocket reduce heat transfer in both directions. Your heating and cooling run less. Energy saving
Do roller shutters reduce insurance premiums?
Some customers report their insurer views shutters favourably, but there is no industry-standard discount in Australia. Check with your insurer directly.

What's the difference between SM motors and Elero motors?
The SM tubular motor is our standard. It’s tested, reliable, and backed by our warranty. It handles everyday use on standard-sized windows without issue and is included in all our electric shutter quotes. The Elero motor is a German-engineered premium upgrade at $265 more per shutter. It runs quieter, has more advanced smart home compatibility, and comes with its own manufacturer warranty on top of ours. Your quote shows both options side by side with clear pricing so you can compare. See our motorised roller shutters page for the full breakdown.
Pricing & Process

How do I get a quote for roller shutters?
Call 1300 881 312 or fill in the form on our contact page. Free on-site measure. Fixed written quote with everything included. See what’s included.
How long does roller shutter installation take?
Each shutter: 30 to 120 minutes. Most homes done in a single day. 4 to 6 weeks from quote approval to install. Installation process
What warranty do you offer?
10 years on roller shutter slats, 5 years on SM and Elero motors, and 12 months on electrical components and workmanship. Your quote confirms the exact terms in writing before any work begins. If something needs attention, you call us directly and we sort it. Same team, no call centres.
Do I need to be home during installation?
Yes, we need someone home on install day. Our crew will need access to the inside of your home to test each shutter, check the electrical wiring, and make sure everything operates correctly before we leave. Install typically takes a full day for a whole-home job, or a few hours for smaller jobs. We’ll confirm the date and give you a morning arrival time so you can plan around it. If you need to step out briefly during the install, that’s fine as long as we can access the windows. See our installation process for the full rundown.
Do you install on double-storey homes?
Yes. We install shutters on both single and double-storey homes across Melbourne. Upstairs windows require working at height, which means additional safety equipment and more time on site. This is reflected in a heights surcharge of $80 to $220+ per shutter, depending on access. The surcharge covers scaffolding, elevated work platforms, or ladder access as needed. We assess access during the free on-site measure and confirm the exact cost in your written quote. See our pricing page for more on cost factors.
Can I get just one or two shutters, or is there a minimum?
There’s no minimum order. We’re happy to install a single shutter on one window if that’s all you need. Some customers start with their most exposed or street-facing windows and add more later. The only thing to keep in mind is that the per-shutter cost is slightly higher for smaller jobs because setup and travel time are spread across fewer shutters. For larger orders of 8 or more, the per-shutter cost comes down. Either way, your quote is fixed in writing before we start. Get in touch to book your free measure.
Do you remove old shutters or blinds?
If you have existing roller shutters that need replacing, we can remove them as part of the install. Let us know during the on-site measure so we can factor it into the quote. For internal blinds or curtains, we don’t remove those as part of our service, but they can stay in place. Roller shutters mount on the outside of the window frame, so they don’t interfere with what’s inside. If your existing shutters are from another company and just need repairs, give us a call and we’ll let you know if we can help.
Do you offer finance or payment plans?
Yes. Humm finance. $0 deposit, up to $15,000 over 36 months. Payments start after installation. Without finance: 30% deposit required. 3% credit card surcharge. Finance page
