Windows are the biggest weak point in your home’s insulation. In summer, heat floods through the glass and your cooling system fights to keep up. In winter, warmth escapes and your heating system runs longer to compensate.

Roller shutters add a foam-filled aluminium barrier on the outside of the glass with an insulating air pocket behind it. Less heat through the glass means less work for the system that manages your temperature.

How much you save depends on your home. Windows facing west or north receive the most direct sunlight. Larger glass areas lose more heat. Homes with single glazing see a bigger improvement than those with double glazing. The number of shutters matters, and how often you use them. Every situation is different, but customers consistently report running their systems less.

When your HVAC system cycles less frequently, it doesn’t just save energy. It lasts longer. Fewer cycles means less wear on compressors, fans, and motors. The shutter does part of the temperature management work so the mechanical system doesn’t have to handle all of it. Over years of use, that reduced load adds up.

With the smart WiFi upgrade, you can set daily schedules for each shutter. Close west-facing shutters at 2pm before the afternoon heat hits. Open everything at 7am.

The shutters run on autopilot and you don’t have to think about it. The Smart Life app works on iOS and Android, compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

Energy savings are one benefit. Security, privacy, blockout, and noise reduction all come standard with every roller shutter we install. There’s no separate “energy saving” product. It’s the same foam-filled aluminium shutter, custom-fitted to your openings. SM tubular motors are included. Elero motors are $265 more per shutter.

Double glazing represents a significantly higher investment and only handles insulation and noise. Ceiling insulation helps but doesn’t address the glass. External awnings block summer sun but do nothing for winter heat loss. Roller shutters handle both directions and also give you security, privacy, blockout, and noise reduction. One product, one install, and the energy savings start from day one.

Every home is different, so we don’t make specific dollar claims. What customers tell us: their cooling system doesn’t cycle as often in summer, their heating holds longer in winter, and their energy bills are noticeably lower in the first full quarter after installation. West-facing rooms see the most significant improvement. Homes with 6+ shutters covering the most exposed windows report the most consistent results.
